Keeping Families Connected
Are you caring for someone with a mental health issue? Perhaps they have a drug issue to add to it. Would you like to know more about common mental health issues? And more specifically about the illness your person is diagnosed with? Do you have difficulty knowing what to say and when to say it, with your person? Are you sick of walking on eggshells?
Keeping Families Connected (KFC) can help you explore some possible answers to these questions. KFC is a five week group program offered by Carers ACT to help families who are caring for someone with a mental health issue and/or a drug dependency.
KFC is guided by the needs of those who attend the program, but we aim to help carers, family and friends of those with mental health issues to know and understand more about these issues so they can manage their situation more easily. We place your safety and the safety of the person you care for as a high priority. We will be looking at how to cope, how to manage the system, where to find supports in the community and how to make sure you are caring for yourself as well.
We are taking enrollments for the next KFC course which will begin in February. We run three KFC courses per year, so even if you can’t make this one, you can put your name down for future courses. If you are interested in attending this course (or a future KFC course) please contact Eleanor on 6296 9908 or email to rsvp@carersact.org.au
